UNEP Billion Tree Campaign hands over to the young people of the Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation
New Phase for Campaign Which Has Planted Over 12 Billion Trees Worldwide.

The Billion Tree Campaign is handed over to the Plant for the Planet Foundation

The Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign (BTC) has been an inspiration for millions of people concerned about climate change and wider environmental challenges. The United Nations Environment Programme  appreciates and applauds all those who have taken part since its launch in 2006 and contributed to a series of milestones.

Today, the website registers over 12 billion planted trees in 193 countries - that is quite an achievement.

After several extensions, and as the campaign became self-propagating, we felt that the time was ripe to hand over the campaign to the next generation via the Plant for the Planet Foundation www.plant-for-the-planet.org email: billiontreecampaign@plant-for-the-planet.org

We are currently in the process of migrating the BTC database over to the new management. We encourage all our participants to continue to support the Billion Tree Campaign under its new management. UNEP will supply to the Foundation contact information (countries of residence, email and phone numbers of contact persons) of the Campaign participants who do not object to their contact information to be shared with the Foundation.

The Foundation agrees to use the database only for the purpose of Campaign activities and the empowerment of children and youth as global citizens.

Please write to us
at the Billion Tree Campaign Team (email: billiontreecampaign@unep.org) if you do not wish to have your contacts shared.

Thank you and best regards,

The Billion Tree Campaign team
